Arnica is a flowering perennial in the Asteraceae (sunflower) family, native to Europe and naturalized in mountainous regions of North America. The plant is recognized by its large, bright yellow flower heads, which have been gathered and dried for traditional use for centuries. In European folk herbalism, Arnica flowers were most commonly prepared for external applications and valued for their warming, stimulating qualities.
